If I’m a veteran and my spouse or I need care at home, can I get help paying for care from the VA?
You know, we help a large number, many per month… many clients a month we help get qualified for the VA benefits. Sometimes, it’s the veteran who’s married or single; sometimes it’s the surviving spouse of the deceased veteran. But for dozens and dozens of clients every year, the VA benefit is the difference between getting the care they need and be able to stay in their home or possibly being able to pay for nice assisted living community as opposed to having to go to the nursing home or having to become a real burden to their children, and they move in with the children. The VA is that missing piece of the puzzle for very ____ folks; every situation is different, and it’s hard to give a blanket statement that says everybody who’s a veteran can benefit from VA benefits. There are asset test that look at what your income is, they look at what your medical needs are, but for a whole lot of folks, it’s a huge benefit, a huge blessing and we need the missing link.
