My spouse has Alzheimer’s and is living at home. What do we need to do now to plan ahead?
The sooner you start planning, the better options you have and the more options you have. Don’t ever assume that it’s too late to do planning. If you have a loved one with dementia, Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s, its vital that you make a bee line to an elder law firm that is experienced in veteran benefits planning and Medicaid planning and long-term care planning in general. A lot of folks assumed that once mom or dad or my spouse has a diagnosis of dementia or Parkinson’s that it’s probably too late to do anything, that’s almost never the case, everybody’s individual situation is different, so it’s hard to say what the right plan of action would be without knowing the specifics of the whole situation but please don’t ever make the mistake of assuming it’s too late to do some planning.
