Total Time: 1 hour
Servings: 8
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 pounds apples (such as Granny Smith or Honey Crisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)
- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (or homemade dough)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan.
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour (if using). Let sit for 10 minutes to draw out the juices.
- Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust. Dot with butter.
- Cover with the second pie crust, crimp edges to seal, and make a few slits on top to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the crust is golden and juices are bubbling.
- Cool for at least 2 hours before serving. Optionally, serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Enjoy a delicious slice of warm, spiced apple pie!
